Beginning September 2026, I will be offering a limited number of small-group and individual tutoring sessions designed to build strong, research-based literacy skills. These programs are ideal for students who need explicit, systematic instruction to develop confident reading, spelling, and writing skills.
All tutoring is led by Melissa Petersen, certified teacher and Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist (C-SLDS). Sessions are grounded in evidence-based Structured Literacy and Orton-Gillingham principles.
Early Foundational Literacy Camp
(Homeschool-Friendly Small Group)
This option is designed for young learners who are building the core skills needed for reading and writing success.

- VC, CV, and CVC word reading
- High-frequency sight words
- Lowercase manuscript handwriting

Literacy Fast Track Group
(Homeschool-Friendly Small Group)
This accelerated option is ideal for students who are ready to move quickly through foundational spelling and decoding skills while continuing to strengthen handwriting and automaticity.

- Accelerated phonemic awareness
- Multisyllabic decoding for accuracy and fluency
- Lowercase handwriting mastery
- Common vowel and consonant spelling patterns
- High-frequency sight words
- Syllable division strategies
- Common prefixes and suffixes
- Introduction to the schwa sound

Individual One-on-One Literacy Tutoring
For students who need highly individualized, intensive instruction, a limited number of one-on-one tutoring sessions are available.
Details
- Sessions are 50 minutes long.
- Available Monday through Friday.
- A minimum commitment of two sessions per week is required.
- Sessions are held up to 4 days per week after 3:00 PM
- Very limited availability
Cost
- $70 per session
