The Who:

Hello! My name is Melissa Petersen. I am a certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist (C-SLDS) with training in the Orton-Gillingham approach and the Wired for Reading® curriculum. My training and experience has given me tools to teach students of all ability levels and watch them grow.

The What:

Research shows that children learn best when they are taught all aspects of the English language, starting with foundational skills and building toward mastery. Effective instruction includes direct teaching of sounds, letters and phonics, syllable types, word parts, word order and grammar, and meaning.
